Call for Tutorial Proposals

The 3rd IEEE Pacific Visualization Symposium (PacificVis 2010) will be held in Taipei, Taiwan during March 2 to 5, 2010. Visualization has become an increasingly important research area due to its wide range of applications in many disciplines. PacificVis is an IEEE sponsored international visualization symposium held in the Asia-Pacific region, with the objective to foster greater exchange between visualization researchers and practitioners, and to draw more researchers in the Asia-Pacific region to enter this rapidly growing area of research.

PacificVis 2010 is soliciting proposals for tutorials on topics from the leading edge of Visualization. The purpose of a tutorial at PacificVis 2010 is to help people extend their knowledge of the state of the art in Visualization. If you are interested in presenting a tutorial, please send email to pvis10 [AT] cmlab.csie.ntu.edu.tw with a proposal. Your proposal submission should include a title and the name(s) and affiliation(s) of the tutors, and briefly address the following issues:

  • Course content: a description of
    • What topics will be covered?
    • To what depth will these topics be covered?
    • Will you include case studies?
    • hat delivery mechanism will you use?

  • Target audience: Who would attend your tutorial? Is it for advanced researchers, for beginners in Visualization research?
  • Educational aims: what will attendees get out of your tutorial?
  • Tutor background: why are you the best person to give this tutorial?
  • Publicity: One paragraph for the conference web page, to market the course to conference attendees (if it is accepted).
  • Sample course materials (eg, a few sample PowerPoint slides).

Your submission, apart from the sample course materials, should be in a single 2 page PDF file. Tutorial proposals will be evaluated on the basis of their value to Visualization Researchers. At the Conference, tutorials take place in either half day (3 hours) or full day (5 hours) sessions, on March 2, 2010, at the PacificVis 2010 conference venue.
